BEING WHO YOU ARE #2

A. Last week we ended with ROM 5:5.
(1) As a Christian that is a reality in your life right now.
a. You’re not trying to get the Holy Spirit, not praying for it. He indwells you right now.
(A) You have the Indwelling Holy Spirit and the love of God fills your life.
(1) Not a trickle. Given to overflowing. More than enough to spare.
(1) God’s love is like Himself, it’s overflowing in goodness. The divine nature.
(2) No part of you life is to be untouched, uncontrolled by that Holy Spirit.
b. All the epistles are written with the assumption you already know that and were living it.
(A) Written to those who know they are filled with the Holy Spirit and the love of God.
(1) That’s why every epistle demands that you live in terms of who you are.
(a) Be who you are. You are a child of God, holy, wahed, a member of God’s holy
priesthood. You are the temple of God.
(b) EPH. 4:22. (2) What’s the proof of that? Your new heart, attitude, life style.
(a) 1 COR. 3:3.
That speaks to Christians who had not made that transition. Still carnal.
(c) The idea of still carnal is that they never stopped being what they were
when they became Christians. Or else they started being that way again.
(d) Either way, after becoming Christians they quenched, Ignored the Holy Spirit.
(B) COL 3:3, 12-14.
(1) People say, “If I had that kind of love in me I’d be abel to do that.”
(a) That love is supposed to already be there. Unless the Holy Spirit has left.
(b) Have you quenched and grieved the Holy Spirit until He just moved out?
(2) What’s the solution?
(1) Become what you are as a child of God.
(2) Stop walking in the flesh & start walking in the Holy Spirit.
(a) Crucify the old you and become new. Start being what you’re supposed to be.
(b) ROM 12:1-2.
2. Ever watch a snake shed it’s skin? It outgrows it’s old skin by growing a new skin underneath
the old skin. The old skin dies and is discarded completely.
a. That’s what the New Testament tells us to do. You grown into being a new you.
(A) The Holy Spirit is inside of you. God’s love is creating a new you.
(2) You are out growing your old self and your old lifestyle of selfishness and unlove.
(a The old you must die and is being discarded.
(b) No other option. If not, enjoy this world while you can.
(2) That’s the message the Holy Spirit sets forth in the entire book of Ephesians.
(a) EPH 4:1-2; 17-18; 21-24.
(b) Walk in a way that’s consistent with who you are.
(B) EPH 4:30-5:2a. That’s who you are so just do it.
(1) Do that and people will be knocking down the doors to worship God with us.
(2) Paul is not telling us to do something that’s impossible. No impossibilities with God.
(a) COL 3:10. Become who you are!!!
(b) How? Vs. 12-17. That’s it, He says it’s yours. Take it and live your life to the fullest
in peace and happiness.
(c) ACTS 20:32.
