BEING WHO YOU ARE #1

A. When you’re born again there is instilled with in you a new principle of life.
1. This new principle is not optional, it’s mandatory. JNO. 3:3-5.
a. Being born again is not just having your sins forgiven, not just going to heaven.
(A) That’s the sum total of what some Christians believe the new birth is.
(1) Primary subject of Bible Is not your past or future.
(a) God is concerned about where you are and what you are spiritually.
(b) We are not just people who have been forgiven. That’s your past.
(c) We are not just people who are going to heaven. That’s your future.
(2) We are people who are given the life and nature of God.
(a) We are to be what God has made us to be. Right now, every day.
(b) Jesus not come just to die on a cross, Just forgive us and get us to heaven.
(B) He came to live his life in us and through us to Influence others to come to Him.

(a) GAL. 2:20.
(b) 1 JNO. 2:3-6.
(2) What defines the Christian life? It’s Christ living in you. You doing God’s will.
(a) It’s you showing the world that Jesus is the only hope of glory they have.
(b) If Christ is alive in me I walk as He walked. His lifestyle is my lifestyle.
(b) If the world needs to see Jesus they can see Him in me. In my everyday life.
(C) What God is like will predictably flow from the person in whom Christ lives.
(1) What I’m saying is, “You really can. tell a tree by the fruit it bears!”
(2) JC is love incarnate (Defined, Explained in the Flesh).
(1) He shows us how God would live if He lived in a human body. How men live when God lives in them
(2) Not say He has love, He IS love. Big Difference between Having and Being.
b. 2 PET. 1:3-4.
(3) Be filled with the love of Jesus and you will take on the Divine Nature and escape the power of sin.
(1) 1 JNO. 4:8, 16.
To take on the nature of God you love the way God loves. Without prejudice, conditions, compromise.
1 PET. 2:21.
(2) JNO. 14:8-10.
(a) Jesus came to show us how to love. How to love even when the loving causes
us to suffer, to be laughed at, to be hated, rejected, despised.
(b) Gives spiritual life that is the source of joy. My joy is not just because I’m
going to heaven. My joy is because of Who lives in me.
(c) As I cherish this love given to me I, become more like that love and I begin to
love and serve others with that love and the abilities God has bestowed on me.
(d) I become like the God who is love and live my life as a true believer.
(B) JNO. 15:11-12.
(1) Do we really understand what that’s saying?
(a) To love one another with the love that is God is linked directly together
with the joy of being who and what we are because of what Jesus did for us.
(b) Why am I to love you? Because of what you have done or because of

who and what I have become in Jesus?
(c) Never have the full joy of Christianity until you understand that and that
becomes the foundation of what you do in Life.
(2) ROM. 5:5.
What is our hope?
COL. 1:27.
(4) What is your glorious hope? It’s Jesus in you and He will not disappoint you.
(1) Why? God has given us the Indwelling Holy Spirit as the seal of who we are
and continually fills us with the love of God so the world can see who we Are.
(2) Question? Are you in Christ? Do you know how to get into Christ?
GAL. 3;27.
ACTS 2:38.
When you were baptized into Jesus, you were forgiven and God gave you His Holy Spirit.
(3) God’s love is poured out into your heart. You have all you need.
(1) His love is given so we can be like Him.
(2) Open your heart and life. Receive all that God has to give to you
(3) ACTS 20:32.
