Attitude: Part 1
"The Wisdom of Restaurant Signs"
A. Having survived the Holocost, Victor Frankl once said, "The
last of the human freedoms is
the freedom to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances."
1. As you entered a restaurant there was a sign that sounded quite
amusing. It said, "Service may vary depending on my mood...and
your attitude."
a. Isnt that true? Have your ever changed someone's "bad"
mood with your good
attitude. Be honest. Can you recall a time or two when you've
brought others down
with a lousy attitude. Its amazing how much our attitudes
impact our lives and our surroundings. The lives of everybody
around us. In fact, I firmly believe that, our environment can
be a merciless mirror of our attitudes.
2. Our attitudes exemplify the classic, "you reap what you
sow" principle. The world you experience is a reflection
of your attitude.
3. Do you want to change your environment? Your circumstances?
Your situation? Start with your attitude. In Matt. 5:13?16.
2. Your attitude reflects the real you. The real loving, caring,
forgiving, serving child of God or the loveless, bitter, self
serving, shriveled up old prune youve chosen to be in life.
1. You are what you have chosen to be in life. James the brother
of Jesus speaks to this in Jas. 3:13?17, Who is wise and
understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his
works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter
envy and self?seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against
the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly,
sensual, demonic. For where envy and self?seeking exist, confusion
and every evil thing are there.
2. Your conduct in life is determined by your attitude. Jas. 3:10?12.
3. Rom. 5:5, says, The love of God has been poured out in
our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Are you
a child of God? Is the love of God reflected in your life?
4. If youre a child of God you are indwelt by the Holy Spirit
and you are supposed to be filled, to overflowing, with the Holy
Spirit. Gal. 5:22-25. Where is the harvest of the Spirit in your
life? Is it there or has there been a crop failure in your life?
5. Acts 20:32.
